Reiki Usui: Healing Through Energy

Reiki Usui is a movement established by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese teacher and a devout Buddhist. He accidentally discovered the technique when he was on a 21-day meditation exercise at Mt. Kurama. There are different variations of Reiki. Reiki Usui is the movement which lineage can be traced to Usui Sensei, the name that Dr. Mikao Usui was fondly called by his students.

The use of energy in healing is the main principle of Reiki. Basing on the ancient healing techniques, energy can be classified either ascending or descending. In Reiki Usui, the energy used is the descending energy. Under this principle, the practitioner becomes one with that energy through the symbols that he is attuned to. Once that is achieved, healing occurs.
